FAQ's

What do I need to do to prepare?

To ensure the best outcome from your PRP treatment, please follow these guidelines:

1. 🩸 Hydration & Nutrition

  • Drink plenty of water in the 24 hours prior to your appointment to support blood volume and platelet yield.

  • Eat a healthy meal before your treatment to avoid lightheadedness and avoid fatty meals prior (good and bad fats).

2. 🚫 Avoid Blood-Thinning Agents

  • Refrain from taking aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or other NSAIDs for 3–7 days before treatment (unless medically necessary—consult your GP).

  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior, as it can thin the blood and affect platelet quality.

  • Limit caffeine intake on the day of treatment.

3. 💊 Medications & Supplements

  • Avoid supplements that may increase bruising (e.g., fish oil, vitamin E, garlic, ginkgo biloba) for 3–5 days prior.

  • Continue prescribed medications unless advised otherwise by your healthcare provider.

4. 🚿 Skin Preparation

  • Arrive with clean skin—no makeup, moisturizers, or sunscreen on the treatment area.

  • Avoid active skincare products (retinoids, AHAs, BHAs) for 2–3 days before treatment.

5. 🧴 Sun & Lifestyle

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 48 hours before treatment.

  • Refrain from smoking on the day of treatment to support optimal healing.

6. 🗓️ Other Considerations

  • Schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks before any major event to allow for healing and visible results.

  • Inform your practitioner if you have a history of cold sores, autoimmune conditions, or are pregnant/breastfeeding.
